My Passion:
Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me. I have a deep passion for working with people and find fulfillment in helping improve the lives of others. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of their journey and to witness their progress after facing injuries—whether minor or complex—stemming from sports, performance, school, work, or everyday life. I’m honored to support individuals as they work toward their goals and strive for greater wellness.
The Why behind my Passion:
When I was ten years old, I had a traumatic brain injury and almost didn’t survive. I was comatose for five days. When I woke up, I had to relearn everything. Among many things my left side was paralyzed briefly, I lost my memory from before age ten, I had to relearn my birthday, where I lived, what foods I liked, how to draw letters of the alphabet and even what the alphabet was, how to tie a shoe lace, how to walk, and many other things. My life started over. I had several doctors and therapists help me overcome my injuries. I eventually got back to a new life. I could perform well and accomplished a lot, even in sports and life. It was not easy, though; I struggled a lot and always had a few difficulties with school, reading, and learning.
My world became a lot easier after being treated through functional neurology, and I found the “why” things were not working well and how to make them better. Even after 20 years, I found deficits that were still present from my head injury. I am happy I found functional neurology.
Experience and Education:
As a performance enhancement specialist and trainer/physiologist, I have worked with numerous people and teams of varied ages and skill levels, from beginner to professional athlete, from grade school, high school, college age, and beyond. I have had the privilege of working with professional teams and athletes from the NFL, CFL, AFL, and MLB, as well as other sports up to the Olympic level, to ensure optimal performance and return to performance.
My passion for the nervous system and neurology led me to receive a Doctorate in Chiropractic and become a Board-Certified and Licensed Chiropractor. I continued my training with postgraduate education in Functional Neurology through the Carrick Institute for Graduate Studies and postgraduate studies in applications to treat Traumatic Brain Injuries and Concussions, Neurological Applications, and Vestibular Rehabilitation.
